VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS
South Carolina State University is committed to providing scholarships to qualified students.
The Visual Arts Program Scholarships are awarded annually to current students demonstrating a
commitment to continued artistic growth.

Work Study Award (Digital Media Labor Art Studio Technician)
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered far a Visual Arts Program Scholarship you must:
A. Be currently enrolled full-time at South Carolina State University.
B. Have completed 6 credit hours in studio art or be currently enrolled in a studio art course.
C. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater.
APPLICATION
Applications for the Visual Arts Program Scholarship must contain:
1) Six (6) electronic images of your artwork on CD or DVD. At least four (4) pieces must be new or not
been submitted previously. Electronic images should be at least 2100 pixels (7 inches, 300dpi equivalent)
on the long side and not exceed a resolution size of 3000 pixels on the long side (10 inches, 300dpi
equivalent). Each image file must be labeled with your name and image number (Smith_John_1.jpg).
Time-based media, such as performance, video, or animation should not exceed three minutes in length.
Web page design/sites should be submitted with an address (supply URL), and screen captures in the
above JPEG format.
2) A word document with a typed image list that corresponds to your images/submissions. Please be sure
to include: Your name, year, title, medium, dimensions, and date completed (Image 1 Title of the Piece, Digital Print, 20 x 30 inches, May 2015).
3) A typed Artist's Statement concerning your artistic goals and influences. Please limit your statement
to no more than one page. Some Questions you may wish to address include:
What are some of the major influences that affect your artistic development?
What are your strengths as well as areas where you need to improve in your artistic development?
What are your goals as an artist?

All application materials must be submitted in a 9 x 12" envelope with the applicant's name, permanent
address, telephone number, and email address clearly printed on the outside. All submitted materials will
be kept in the departments archive and will not be returned. All complete applications will be evaluated
by Visual Arts Program faculty. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Scholarship recipients
will be notified by email.
