45TH ANNUAL STUDENT ART EXHIBITION INFORMATION


SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

45TH ANNUAL STUDENT ART SHOW – SPRING 2017


GUIDELINES:

We are currently preparing for the 45th Annual Student Art Exhibition at South Carolina State University for the Spring 2017 semester. Any/all students may submit work(s) to the show, which will be juried and selected for the exhibition in the I.P. Stanback Museum.

The opening reception is scheduled for APRIL 27TH, 2017 from 4-6 PM. An awards ceremony will begin at 5 PM. During the opening reception, outstanding works from the following three areas will be recognized and awarded: (1) TWO DIMENSIONAL ARTWORKS (i.e. painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, mixed media, etc.), (2) THREE DIMENSIONAL ARTWORKS (i.e. ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, mixed media, etc.), and (3) DIGITAL MEDIA ARTWORKS (i.e. websites, video/film, animation, etc.)

Students must submit their work during the week of APRIL 10th - 14th at the FRONT DESK of the I.P. STANBACK MUSEUM FROM 9 AM – 4:30 PM OR to ROOM 205A FAB FROM 9 AM – 5 PM.

Demos of and assistance with MATTING AND FRAMING TWO DIMENSIONAL WORKS will be given on FRIDAY, APRIL 7TH AND MONDAY, APRIL 10TH IN ROOM 115 FAB. Students are encouraged to provide their own frames if possible.


REQUIREMENTS:

WHAT TYPE OF WORK CAN BE SUBMITTED?
Students are encouraged and permitted to submit any and all works of art, which include, but is not limited to the following:
            TWO-DIMENSIONAL (drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, collage, etc.)
            THREE- DIMENSIONAL (ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, mixed media, etc.)
            DIGITAL MEDIA (website design, video/film, motion graphics, animation, etc.)

HOW SHOULD THE WORKS BE PRESENTED?
Students must have their artwork ready for installation and exhibition, meaning, that all 2D works must be matted, framed and ready to be hung on a wall. Digital media intended to be displayed on a monitor must be saved to a disc and ready for electronic display.

HOW SHOULD THE WORK BE SUBMITTED?
Students must complete the ‘Student Artwork Entry Form’, including the ‘Label Section’, for each submitted artwork.
             ENTRY FORMS can be accessed from faculty within the visual arts department or in room 300
SUBMIT the completed form with the works at time of delivery.
THE LABEL should be attached to the backside (2D) or bottom (3D) of the work.

HOW MANY WORKS CAN BE SUBMITTED?
Students are permitted to submit a maximum of FOUR (4) works, which must adhere to the following qualifications:
Students may ONLY submit works that have been created during his/her time at SC State.
Students may ONLY submit works that have not prior been exhibited in an SC State student show.

Students should sign and date each work (separate from the label) on the front, back or bottom of the piece.


PROCEDURES:

1.     ALL WORKS MUST BE READY FOR EXHIBITION – this means 2D works to be matted, framed, and equipped with the appropriate hanging hardware on the backs, and 3D works to be burned to a disc and ready for presentation.
2.     COMPLETE THE STUDENT ARTWORK ENTRY FORM AND CUT AND ATTACH LABELS TO THE BACK OF WORKS – form and labels must be written legibly. Form to be submitted with labeled works at time of drop off.
3.     WORKS TO BE DROPPED OFF DURING THE WEEK OF APRIL 10TH - 14TH NO LATER THAN 4:30 PM.
